How To Use A Different bsq File

BACKGROUND & OVERVIEW

The sql.bsq file is a template used by the CREATE DATABASE command to build an embryo database.

USING A DIFFERENT bsq FILE

  • In order to create a database using an alternative template, use the following steps:
    • Use an appropriate editting tool to make a copy of the orginal $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/sql.bsq file;
      • Use a different name and location to avoid accidents!
    • Tweak the parameters in the copy template file as necessary;
    • Update the init.ora file to call the alternative sql.bsq file by adding this line:
      • init_sql_file = <alternative template file name>
    • Create the database.
